Another week Another Exhibition. The next bit of wordage is an accumulation of parts unashamedly stolen from the man himself because.....Don't fix what isn't broken.
What? A fictional story of the journey of Cleopatra's Pearl Earring. Based on historical accounts, it is the tale how the Pearl Earring of Cleopatra may have found it's way across the Western World, in paintings that may have been created by Peter Jamieson Sinclair, who has channelled Artists from history including Botticelli, the School of Leonardo, Vermeer, Goya, Lichtenstein, Vettriano and more, right up to his own version.
So, 21 paintings, 18 of which will be for sale as 2 are NFS and 1 has already been reserved.
Come and view the 'alternative' history of a piece of jewellery, one of a pair, thought to be lost, traceable all the way back to Cleopatra and Mark Antony.
I attended opening night and this time was joined by my children who both embraced their first time experience in their own ways.
I've been looking forward to attending this one for a while, the story, historical nods, alternative narrative and creativity that it promised to be sucked me in immediately. Knowing the dude and legend that is Peter I knew we'd be in for a great night, It did not disappoint.
As stand alone painting's, magnificent, as a cohesive story, Magnificence with magnitude, Add that to the workmanship of his Handmade frames and knowledge of so many things art that i cant even begin to comprehend and wow.
My son particularly enjoyed trying to find patterns and cohesion, along side the pearl earring and found some that had even been unrealized by the Artist himself. He'd stepped into a world of imagination and creativity, realised the freedom, backed with the permission to dig deeper, imagine and play with his own narratives.
My daughter, with a reignited passion for photography, armed with her camera embraced the opportunity to get into "photographer mode."
I love that as a family we can attend things like this together, that feeds into our individual creativity and interest.
For me, Finally being able to see his work in the flesh and see everything I had heard so much about the last few weeks, was, in short, cool as fuck.
Another opportunity meet people, practice my patter, be inspired, look at the things necessary to exhibit and details to elevate, outside of just painting and to watch and enjoy my children in a new environment and embrace it.
Lots of moments of gratitude and along the way until now, opportunities to give back a little, in all honesty, Pete is somebody that has been friendly from the moment I met him, a great supporter, cheerleader and sharer of my work, has been more then happy to share his knowledge, opinions and answer any and all of my ridiculous questions. It's one thing being a great painter which he is, I could write about that, not with any deep understanding, knowledge or experience though. It's another to be a great artist, person and creative mind who is passionate about art and other artists and wants us all do to well (as long as its actually art, lets not even get into subjectivity right now.) THAT is worth writing about.
So on that Note, Thankyou Peter Jamieson Sinclair.
I hope your exhibit and future are as successful as you hope for others!
For the rest of you, get your butts down to HIVE urban farm shop for the best coffee, in house baked cakes and foods in Blackpool and check out this exhibit, hanging until November 13th, its worth the trip!
Thanks for reading, Forever Choatic,
Zoe Siobhan.
